Final Assessment – Mini Movers Dance Course

1. Practical Teaching Video Assessment

Description:
Participants are required to conduct a simulated portion of a Mini Movers dance session. This should include teaching 2 to 3 dances from a provided selection, showcasing the following aspects:

  • At least one dance must incorporate the use of props.
  • Dances should be taught directly to music, incorporating storytelling or instructions as needed.
  • Participants should dynamically manage the ‘imaginary’ class, applying key techniques learned throughout the course, particularly from the Teaching Excellence section.

Criteria Evaluated:

  • Use of Language: Effectiveness in communication.
  • Storytelling: Ability to integrate narratives into dance routines.
  • Handling Props: Proficiency in using props to enhance engagement.
  • Engagement Techniques: Strategies used to maintain class interest and participation.
  • Class Management: Skills in organising and leading a class to motivate and inspire young learners.

Extra Notes:

  • The video can be filmed in your usual teaching space or an alternative space, such as your home. Note that the assessment focuses on your teaching skills, not the environment.
  • You are permitted to have another person present during the filming if you feel the need for a physical body to interact with during the teaching session.
  • Approach this assessment as you would any regular teaching session; remember, the goal is to see your natural teaching style in action.

Assessment Feedback:

  • Videos will be reviewed and assessed within 48 hours.
  • Feedback will be provided promptly, detailing areas of strength and suggestions for improvement. If necessary, you may be asked to revise and resubmit your video incorporating specific changes.
  • Upon satisfactory evaluation, your certificate will be issued.
